A letter from Michael Gurian:

Dear Educational Leader,

As you know, the education of your students goes best when it is a positive and practical partnership between the school and the parents. In fact, research shows that positive parent involvement with children's schooling can increase a student's success in school up to 30%.

Here is an easy and cost-effective way to get parents more involved with their child's learning. The Gurian Institute is now offering monthly, age appropriate Parent Newsletters that contain the latest science-based research about how boys and girls learn best, along with strategies, tips, and resources like these:

Best practices for helping kids with homework and other academic needs;

Practical tools for helping to educate each girl and boy;

Practical tools for understanding and supporting each child's learning style and personality type;

Leading edge information on child development, targeted to boys and girls of all ages.

Ordering the newsletter is easy. You can:

1. Subscribe to the monthly newsletter that is the best fit for your families - preschool and kindergarten, elementary, middle school, or high school. Each newsletter is also available in Spanish.

2. Receive the newsletter electronically with permission to reprint within your contract's guidelines.

3. Disseminate the newsletter to your parents as an insert with your school's monthly newsletter, or send it independently in hard copy or electronically.

Your staff will be able to use each newsletter to promote discussion of current student learning research, best practice strategies and as a vehicle through which to find common connections with parents to discuss student strategies. Finally, we believe you can use the material in each newsletter during parent/accountability/community meetings.

All of us at the Gurian Institute hope you will take advantage of this easy and economical opportunity to have greater involvement with the families of your students. Please let us know how we can help you.

Sincerely,

Michael Gurian
